Edmonton is the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta and has 782,439 inhabitants (april 2009). It is Canada’s fifth largest city, after Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, and Calgary. Edmonton encompasses no less than 684 square kilometres, which makes it larger in area than cities like Chicago and Toronto.
