Edmonton is the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta and has 782,439
inhabitants (april 2009). It is Canada’s fifth largest city, after Toronto,
Montréal, Vancouver, and Calgary. Edmonton encompasses no less than 684 square
kilometres, which makes it larger in area than cities like Chicago and Toronto.
Bear in mind though, that Edmonton is also one of the most sparsely populated
cities in North America. So the area cited includes a lot of parks and
undeveloped land. The city’s industry based.
